1st Series - Flight B

View from the line at the marks.

Flight B test 1 is a triple with an out of order flyer and an honor.

This test is sitting on top of a wide open field with trees on both side. 1st mark on the right is thrown into a pocket between trees. Flyer is in the middle and is the longest mark thrown from a large group of trees toward a small group of trees. The go bird is on the left and is thrown out into the field from another group of trees.

This test is somewhat quick depending on how the dogs get the flyer. The flyer is the key mark in this test. What makes this flyer challenging is a small mound in the middle of the field with decoys. The flyer lands well deep of the obstacle will push dogs to the right and they end up hunting an opening behind the flyer or if they push left the dog could end up in mark #3 sent.

There was a touching scene before the test dog ran. 2 dogs are retiring and MARC gave them a ceremonial flyer. The first was Joe Harper and "Hitch" and the second dog was Kieth Kiesow and "Chief".

The video below highlights these two dogs before the judges instructions and test dog.

Dog #1 was the random draw for the first dog to run flights A and B. In flight B that was Nancy Bauer. How did she do? I'll let her tell you.

Kieth Kiesow aslo did well in the first series.
